Tessa King 15th February 2022, 11:56 Welcome to 2022

Maya, you have had a great start to Kāhu Tahi this year. You have joined this learning community and have shown confidence, curiosity and the eagerness to learn. Over the last few weeks you have contributed to the set up of our classroom. We formed our treaty where you shared your ideas around how our classroom will function well. We collated these suggestions and together signed the agreement of expectations in Kāhu Tahi. This has helped make the space feel like yours, that you belong and your ideas are valued. Maya, you have learnt about the importance of hauora and how the Te Whare Tapa Whā model can help keep all aspects of your hauora balanced. Together we celebrated Chinese New Year where you got to make and taste test a dumpling. This was awesome to see you getting involved with a different culture and we look forward to incorporating different cultures into our learning throughout the year. Maya, you have also had the chance to participate in Footsteps dance. Alongside your classmates you learnt about the five elements of dance; space, energy, time, body and action. Through the routine you slowly practiced the movements and at the end were able to complete a full dance to the song ‘Head and Heart’. It was great to see your enthusiasm during this.

We look forward to seeing your growth this year. Ma te huruhuru ka rere te manu (adorn the bird with feathers so that it can soar).
