Yana Tomich 23rd November 2021, 10:14 Superhero iMovie Trailer

Maya, this week you delved into creating an iMovie trailer with a small group of friends. We have recently been exploring our Amazing Brain and looking at our five superpowers; what I think, what I feel, what I believe, what I do and what I tell myself. The purpose of the trailer was to be a superhero and showcase your ‘superpowers’. Maya, in the planning phase, your creative streak shone through as you came up with different ways to create a story and bring it to life for your audience. You relished the challenge to invent your character and create a superhero name that reflected your superpowers. Maya, you had to work in a group to create this iMovie, which can sometimes be challenging, but you took this in your stride. While working in your group, you displayed our school value of collaboration by sharing your amazing ideas and working closely with your peers to come to decisions. Maya, as you drafted an outline and a storyboard for your trailer, your group created an effective system to make sure everyone was involved. This included having a turn at different tasks, such as using the iPad to type, coming up with character names, and thinking of their superpowers. After that, Maya, it was time to create your video and photo content. You were excited to find and design a costume and took into consideration a number of things, such as other characters in your story, the resources you had at hand, and the special powers that your character possessed. It was clear to see your imagination was in action! Maya, capturing the photos and videos is where you were able to showcase your acting skills, using your whole body and facial expression to portray different feelings and emotions for your audience. Throughout this process, you were able to develop your technical knowledge on how to use iMovie. As well as this, you learned about different shots and angles, such as group and action shots. Maya, we were so impressed with your final product and your amazing collaboration skills. Your kaiako could see how much you enjoyed the creative and technical aspects of making a trailer, and it is evident in your final product! Ka rawe.
